Disaster Relief

Deployment Alert: #2 on LA Flood

Many read our last alert post about clean up efforts in Louisiana having begun and the quick need there was for volunteers to fill out a team from VA going down. That storm dumped a record 26 inches of rain on the Gulf Coast region (from TX to LA) this last month with easily 7,000 to 15,000 homes effected by the incredible flooding.  We realized it was a stretch to ask anyone to mobilize within a day, and while no one was able to, it did alert our volunteers to just how ready we need to be for opportunities God creates in this ministry sometimes.

We would ask that volunteers now pray for availability at the later end of April as we expect work in that region to continue throughout the next 40 days at least.

TRAVEL
We realize that travel and time are the largest concerns by volunteers. Because out of state travel is involved, this deployment needs to be no less than one week with added days for travel. Our office can provide some stipend towards travel. Two days travel with an overnight stay (in a church?) on the way should be anticipated.
TIME FRAME
As of now all interested and able volunteers need to organize and aim at deploying any time between...
April 25 to May 9
This is still in a standby mode.
Please let us know of your availability
YOUR RESPONSE
LET US KNOW IMMEDIATELY IF YOU CAN HELP.  We need feedback as to whether you or your team can deploy in this time frame.  This is just in order for you to give leadership word of your availability.

Upcoming Trainings & Recognitions: ME & VT
MAINE & VERMONT Trainings Nearly Here
When disaster strikes will you be ready? Will your community? As an organization, we are tasked to be prepared to bring help, hope and healing in the face of disaster, but without volunteers like you being trained and prepared, we can fail in that mission. While our organization does occasional local / church training as well as in-time training, these two upcoming April trainings are our most in depth and comprehensive trainings available during the year, so we encourage everyone to attend the one closest to or that fits your schedule.

This year, there will be a special Recognition and Awards Luncheon at each location in an effort to appreciate the sacrifice and work of many who have served to make this ministry possible. We want to invite churches, pastors and DR volunteers to attend and bring guests! Let's celebrate what God has done! There is a small donation of $8 for the meal that will go to DR ministry and we need persons attending to register in advance.
